If you’re trying to make money with AI and not seeing results yet, Dan Martell says the problem almost certainly isn’t the tools you’re using, it’s the way you’re thinking about the opportunity entirely.

Most People Are Using AI as a Toy, Not a Business Tool
Dan is refreshingly blunt here: the majority of people chasing AI income are treating it like a novelty instead of a system.
- Scrolling through AI tools, generating images, and playing with chatbots isn’t a business strategy.
- The people actually making real money right now are using AI to solve specific, painful, and expensive problems for real businesses. Whether that’s automating operations, building micro SaaS tools, or packaging AI services into monthly retainers, the tool is almost irrelevant if the business thinking isn’t there first.
Sell Before You Build and Validate Before You Invest
This is one of Dan’s core philosophies and it applies even more urgently in the AI space.
- The biggest mistake he sees is people spending months building a product before confirming anyone will pay for it.
- His advice is simple and a little uncomfortable. Go get a paying customer before you build anything. That one shift separates the people who waste a year on a product nobody wants from the ones who hit their first million in revenue inside twelve months.
