Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Sparks Backlash in Viral Film Threat Reaction Review
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is getting a brutal reaction review from Film Threat, and it’s one of the most heated out of theater takes to drop this year. Alan Ng and Chris Gore walked out looking genuinely exhausted and didn’t hold back for a single second.

The Pacing and Audio Are Driving Critics Crazy
Alan admitted he was bored almost from the very first scene, and that tracks with the reaction review’s biggest complaint: the dialogue is completely unintelligible for a large chunk of the runtime. When it finally becomes understandable, both hosts felt it came across as pretentious and oddly modern for an ancient Greek setting. The accents in particular felt wildly out of place, and that disconnect kept pulling them out of the story entirely.
The Star Studded Cast Doesn’t Save It
Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Tom Holland all show up, but none of them disappear into their roles. Instead of seeing legendary Greek characters come to life, the hosts said they were just watching mega stars be mega stars with no real effort toward characterization. The controversial casting choices also have so little screen time that they barely register, functioning more as cameos than actual performances.
There Are Highlights But the Verdict Is Split
Chris Gore isn’t ready to call it a total disaster even if Alan absolutely is. Chris pointed to a well executed fall of Troy sequence, a solid performance from Samantha Ward as a witch, and a genuinely memorable Cyclops encounter as moments that actually work. Both hosts agreed though that a jarring Travis Scott song over the end credits was one of the stranger creative decisions they’ve seen all year, and neither could fully defend the washed out muted visual palette that drained the life out of what should have been a vivid and colorful epic.
