Jeremy’s Verdict: Fun, Familiar and Not Really Worth the Ticket
Jeremy lands somewhere in the positive camp but keeps it real.
- It feels exactly like a supersized episode of the show and that’s both its biggest strength and its biggest weakness. If you loved seasons one and two you’re going to have a great time. If you wanted something that felt like a proper cinematic Star Wars event you might leave a little cold.
- Ludwig Göransson’s score carries the whole film. Jeremy makes the point that without that music a lot of scenes would feel completely weightless, and that’s both a compliment to Göransson and a mild criticism of everything around it.
- The story goes nowhere and has no real stakes. Mando is never in any real danger, nothing of significance changes by the end, and the film plays it so safe that it almost feels afraid of itself.
