The Setup
The film follows Prince Adam, who after being separated from his home planet of Eternia for 15 years, is reunited with the Sword of Power and must embrace his destiny as He-Man.
- Joining him are Teela (Camila Mendes) and Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba) as they battle Skeletor’s forces to save Eternia. The supporting cast includes Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, and Kristen Wiig voicing Roboto.
Where Critics Agree: Jared Leto Steals the Show
Nearly every critic who reviewed the film found one clear standout – Jared Leto’s Skeletor.
- IGN praised Leto for bringing a “delightfully weird and cartoonish energy to every scene,” while Deadline described his performance as “scene-stealing sly humor and sharp line readings,” noting his voice sounds like a blend of James Earl Jones and Sir Ian McKellen.
- YouTube critic Jeremy Jahns called Skeletor the “standout performance and character” of the entire film, adding he was “the most fun happening on screen at any given time.”
