The Sopranos Rant Breakdown

Snarky Jay spent nearly a year becoming invested in the complex world of Tony Soprano only to be met with an ending that she calls a lazy piece of sh*t. Here is the breakdown of why this legacy media classic left her wanting to put on cement shoes.

  • The Sopranos is a 9 out of 10. Despite the ending Jay rates the show highly for its depth and unintentionally hilarious moments describing the cast as the Avengers of New Jersey (02:19).
  • Unintentional Comedy. The show feels like a Muppet Sesame Street version of the mob with Paulie Walnuts and Silvio Dante acting as a bizarre Bert and Ernie dynamic (04:19).
  • The Big Mouth Billy Bass. Jay reveals her own vintage Sopranos inspired pride and joy a Big Mouth Billy Bass just like the one Tony breaks over a guy’s head at the Bing (05:43).
  • Tony vs Janice. While Tony is a piece of shit Jay finds him more forgivable than Janice who she describes as the absolute worst person in the entire show (09:11).
  • Journey to Nowhere. The use of Don’t Stop Believing during the final scene in the diner is described as a hate crime especially as it leads into the infamous sudden cut to black (10:22).
  • The “Choose Your Own Adventure” Problem. After seven seasons of the writers making every choice for the audience Jay argues that leaving the ending up to the viewer’s imagination is the cheapest load of shit possible (14:19).
